Finding Encouragement

Finding Encouragement in the Lord

1 Samuel 30:6
The men in the army were threatening to kill David with stones, which greatly upset David. Each man was sad and angry because his sons and daughters had been captured, but David found strength in the Lord his God.

Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak. Even children become tired and need to rest, and young people trip and fall. But the people who trust the Lord will become strong again. They will rise up as an eagle in the sky; they will run and not need rest; they will walk and not become tired.

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

A few weeks ago my son came for a much needed visit. We decided to take a hiking adventure to see the “red rock” of Sedona.  It is such a beautiful place displaying unusual rock formations, huge pine trees and winding streams (be sure to look at the photos).  With so many awesome things to see, it did not seem like six miles at all. There was a different experience waiting around each rock formation. The sacrifice to get up earlier was well worth it!

Every time I get away from all the distractions, God always enters my thoughts.  He reminded me that life with Him is a lot like the hike I was on.  All of it wasn’t going to be easy. If we were to enjoy all the wonderful experiences, we had to keep going forward no matter the obstacles in front of us.  At any time we could have decided to stop, but we would miss everything that was ahead.  As we found out, those were the best things and were well worth the effort and “struggle” to see!

How many times do we stop right before reaching the “best part”?  The obstacle seems too big, or we just get tired!  Let me urge you to take a break, drink some water and rest before you decide to quit or stop.  I know that you will agree; the best choices and decisions come after we have taken time to think, meditate and pray about the situation.  The ones made out of reaction are the ones we usually regret.  Let’s respond after we are refreshed.

I believe you will choose to go on, especially when you are reminded that the Lord is always there to help you! He desires to give you the rest and peace you need.  Expect Him to answer all your prayers.  Continue to look upon the good things He has done for you.  God is good and  has blessed each one of us immensely. Please take time to reflect upon the positives.....they are all around!

Believing the best in you,

-Frank-
