Going from Here to There

Getting from Here to There

 Dear “Friend,”

I believe in you!  As we look into the mirror, what we see isn’t what God sees.  He sees your heart.  He sees what you were made to be.  He sees your potential.  He made you.  He knows more about you than anyone in this world.  It says that he has the very hair of your head numbered and has bottled every tear you have cried.  He loves us with an everlasting, unconditional, supernatural, off-the-charts kind of love.

He tells us that, “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”  “I will never leave you or forsake you!”  These two scriptures are huge.  Think about it!  Everyone else’s love is so conditional.  They always want to leave us in the hard times, or yell at us when we have messed up.  They want to remind us when we fail, and keep reminding us!  God doesn’t work that way!  He stays right with us, loving us no matter what!

Well I don’t feel like He is there, you may say.  He doesn’t tell us to walk by our feeling, emotions and what we think, He says, “Walk by faith, not by sight.”  He tells us to believe Him.  Trust Him.  Believe what He tells us and live our lives according to those things and then we are walking in the truth and walking by faith.

It is in this that He leads us unto all truth and understanding.  We want to know the truth.  We are tired of the lies.  That is why we need to run to God.  He cannot lie and He is truth.  He alone can bring light into the dark places of our lives.  Jesus came to give life more abundantly.

He came to set us free from worry, depression, sickness (emotional and physical), sin (those things we know we are doing wrong, our mistakes, shortcomings, faults, etc.), weights of this world, oppression, demonic influences, etc.  He came to set the captives free.  He came for complete liberty and freedom from everything that weights us down.

First of all, when I realize where I am and where I need to get to, I have to repent (turn from my sin).  I have to make a conscious decision that I am not going to stay where I am any longer.  I am not going to keep doing the same things that I have been doing because they are not working.  I am going to stop relying upon my strength, resources, habits, etc and start relying upon you, Lord!

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Prayer:  Lord, you said in your word that if I confessed my sins that I could trust you to forgive me and to cleanse me from everything I have done wrong.  Lord, I confess to you that I have (anything you can think of…the list will get shorter…ask Him to reveal things to ask forgiveness about) and I ask for you to completely forgive me and wash me (like a bath or shower taking off the dirt of the day.  He is taking the dirt (sin) off and out of our lives by confession).  Make me clean.  Wash me, Lord.  Thank you for your forgiveness.  Thank you that I can trust you.  Thank you that you love me.

Note:  Forgiveness happens instantly.  When we confess, He forgives us…immediately and completely.  The problem is that some of the effects or roots of those sins remain.  We have been wounded in our emotions, thoughts, etc and need healing and cleansing from what we have allowed into our lives.

Word:  Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far have our sins been removed from us.

Hebrews 8:12
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Note:  That is a long way that our sins have been removed.  Wow, think about it!  If you go east, you always go east.  If you go west, you keep going west.  They never meet, so he throws our sins into infinity!  Ha!  He also says, He remembers them no more, so why should you!

Stand upon those scriptures, when your enemy reminds you what you have done.  Remind yourself of what God has done.  That is the truth.  You can be like Paul who said, “One thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind (they can’t be changed anyway), and reaching forth unto the things ahead (he looked forward and not behind), I press toward the goal (He pushed through.  He determined to go forward no matter what it took.  He pressed.  He pushed.  He fought to go forward).

Prayer:  Lord, thank you that I have asked you to forgive me.  Thank you that you have removed my sins whether I feel like it or not, I trust you and believe your word that tells me that you have.  If you can remember my sins no more then I choose not to, also.  Thank you for your forgiveness.  Thank you that you help me not to remember.  Help me to go forward in my walk with you! Thank you for loving me!

Note:  You will need strength to walk forward.  It is like a baby crawling and then grabbing the table to stand.  Finally they make a few journeys from the coffee table and fall, but before long, their legs have strengthened and they are walking.  For some reason, we always need help to walk the walk of faith.  Remember, he is with us always, helping us, cheering us on, encouraging us and picking us up when we fall.

Word: Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread.

Prayer:  Thank you Lord that you give me strength to face this day.  Thank you that you live inside me and you will give me strength to do what I need to do today.  Thank you that I do not have to rely on my own strength and resources.  Thank you that I can rely on your strength and your resources.  Give me the spiritual bread that I need to stay strong.  Give me you “heavenly bread” that I need, to have strength for today.  Lord, thank you for loving me and caring about me enough to help me and give me the strength for each day.   Thank you, Lord!  I love you, too!

Note:  Worry and cares of this world keep us focused on the wrong things.  They take our focus off of God and His goodness and put them upon our problems, situations, circumstances and storms of life.  If you think about it, when we are going through the “storms”, we have to remember that the sun is always shining.  We can focus upon the lightning, thunder and dark clouds, or we can focus on the fact that the sun is shining always in spite of what we see.  If we can get our focus high enough, above the clouds, we can see the sun, clear skies and the dark clouds are underneath us.

Word: Mark 4:39
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

Peter 5:7
asting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for your word!  Lord, I need peace in my life.  I need all of the storms to cease.  I need you to say, “Peace, be still” over the storms of my life.  In faith, I say, “peace, be still” to the thoughts, the negativity, the worry, the cares and storms of my life.

By faith, I am going to cast my storms and my cares upon you because you care for me.  You love me.  You want me to succeed.  You believe in me!  Thank you for loving me Lord.  Thank you for caring!

I also chose not to be anxious about anything, or worry about anything.  I choose to tell you about it, because you said that I could through prayer and that is what I am doing.  You said I could let you know my requests and concerns.  You want to hear what is bothering me, but you also want me to give them to you.

Here, Lord.  Here, I don’t want them anymore.  I am tired of worrying about them.  I give them to you so that you can do something about them.  I ask that you bring peace into my life and I know that peace comes from you as I trust you with my finances, my life, my family, my work, etc.  Thank you for peace, Lord.  I need your peace.  Thank you for calming the storms of my life.  Thank you for loving me, Lord!

Note:  There are breakthroughs that we need in our lives.  I always take specific ones and lay them before the Lord.  He has always been faithful to bring answers, deliverance, miracles, etc in all of those areas as I wait on Him I have to be honest with you.  It is hard to wait sometimes.  His timing isn’t like ours.  We are so “fast food” mentality types.  We want it now.  We desire it now.  It is because of this mentality that we give up.

We think, see, God doesn’t answer prayers.  He doesn’t hear me. Yes, he hears us.  Just like your children recognize your voice and you recognize theirs.  You can always hear the distinctive cry of your children even in a group.  God is the same way.  Our cries and voice do not get lost in the crowd. He can always single us out.  So cry out unto the Lord.  He hears you.  He says ask and you will receive……so ask, but then wait for it to come.

Word:  Galatians 6:9
Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up.

Philippians 4:19
My God will fully supply whatever you need, in accord with his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:  Lord, I lay my finances (or whatever the need) before you.  You know that I do not have enough resources to take care of this myself.  So I am asking you to help me take care of the things that I can’t Lord.  Give me new ideas.  Release a new plan and a new strategy, because what I have been doing hasn’t been working.  Lord, bless my resources and multiply them like you did the loaves and the fishes.  Take what I have and make it more than enough.

Thank you that you are going to supply all of my need.  Thank you that you are going to give me “exceedingly, abundantly above all I ask or think you can do”.  Thank you for the strength to trust you and the courage to wait upon your answer.  I ask you to answer my prayer, Lord and trust you to answer it in your timing, not mine.  I know that I am going to see the answer if I do not give up.  Lord, help me not to give up.  Thank you that you love me, Lord!

My friend, I believe this is a good start.  I believe if you will make a commitment to do this everyday, the Lord will keep adding to it.  If He moves you to pray or ask for more than I have written, trust Him and yourself to do what you are led to do.  This is just a guideline to help you get started.  It is not a formula so use it as a tool.  Let God teach you and show you how to pray using this as a starting point.

Again, I believe in you.  When I look at you I see so much potential.  You are God’s workmanship.  He doesn’t make mistakes.  He created you for a purpose.  We just get lost sometimes and forget what we were made for.  Sometimes, we don’t even know all of it, but as you pray and trust your “heavenly daddy”, He will start showing you things that you have forgotten.  He will start moving in your life and blessing you in so many areas.

Remember to move forward.  If you fall, get up, start again.  If you fall again, get up, start again (repeat until successful).  Ha!  I have taken some of the same tests over so many times I am embarrassed, but I will pass each one eventually.  My friend, He is reaching out to you.  He loves you.  Take His hand.  See the wonderful places that are in store.

Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

Psalm 25:5
Guide me in your truth, and teach me, my God, my Savior. I trust you all day long.

God’s word is true and everything he does is right.
